How to Replace the Bellows on a Frigidaire Affinity Washing Machine

Unplug your Frigidaire Affinity washing machine from the wall outlet. Turn the water supply valves to the “Off” position. Disconnect the supply hoses from the rear of the Frigidaire Affinity washing machine.

Open the washer door to access the bellow surrounding the opening to the washtub. Feel around the edge of the rubber bellow to locate the spring attached to the bellow clamp wire ring. Grab the wire ring with needle-nose pliers right next to the spring. Pull the bellow clamp from beneath the bellow, releasing the front of the bellow from the machine.

Peel the bellow off the lip of the opening in the washer. Pull the light from the opening in the top of the bellow. Squeeze the two ends of the clamp holding the door glass rinse tube to the top of the bellow with pliers. Wiggle the clamp back onto the tube and off the bellow. Pull the tube from the opening.

Remove the two screws holding the door switch assembly to the front panel of your Frigidaire washer. Push back the bellow to pull the assembly from the washer. Pull the two wire harnesses from the assembly and set the assembly aside.

Pull the machine from the wall, so you can access the rear of the washer. Remove the four screws from the top lip on the back of the washer to release the top panel. Slide the panel toward the rear of the machine, and then lift the panel off the machine.

Remove the laundry detergent dispenser from the front of the machine. There is a tab lock on the top rear of the dispenser, press down on the tab with your fingers to release the dispenser from the machine. Remove the screws from the front of the dispenser opening once you remove the dispenser.

Find the two screws on each end of the control panel, holding the control panel to the top of the washer cabinet. Remove these screws. Unsnap the four tabs holding the Affinity control panel to the top of the machine. Lay the panel on top of the machine. Do not disconnect the wires attaching the control panel to the machine.

Remove the four screws along the bottom of the front panel. Remove the four screws from the top of the front panel. Set the front panel aside.

Pull the old bellow from the opening in the washer along with the second spring clamp holding the bellow to the machine. Discard the old bellow.

Spread liquid dishwashing detergent in the groove in the rear of the replacement bellow. Use your finger to ensure the detergent is distributed equally.

Match the arrow on the top of the bellow with the arrow on the lip of the washtub. Make sure the openings in the bellow for the door glass rinse tube and the light are located at the top of the bellow. Push the groove in the rear of the bellow over the lip of the washtub, working around the entire tub opening.

Fit the rear spring clamp over the bellow. Push it into the small groove on the front of the bellow where is sits against the washtub. As you install the spring clamp, insert the spacers provided with the replacement bellow to hold the clamp in place.

Install the front panel onto your Frigidaire Affinity washer and secure it with the screws you previously removed. Insert the light and the door glass rinse tubes into the bellow. Connect the door switch assembly wires and secure the assembly to the front panel.

Push the front of the bellow around the opening in the front panel. Install the spring clamp around the bellow to hold it in place. Complete the assembly of the Affinity washer by reversing the disassembly steps.
