How to Replace Bearings on a Maytag Neptune Washing Machine

Maytag Neptune washing machines are manufactured in a wide range of models. Each model has a distinct set of features and available functions and cycles. Instructions

      Unplug the Maytag Neptune washer power cord. Turn off the water faucets leading to the washer.

      Insert the putty knife between the top and front panels. Press the knife into the internal clips about 2 inches from each corner. Lift the top panel up and back to rest on the wall behind the washer.

      Remove the screws holding the front panel in place. Lift the front panel off of the cabinet.

      Disconnect the water tube leading to the tub.

      Grasp the base of the agitator. Lift straight up to detach it. Set the agitator aside. Remove the nut that is exposed where the agitator was connected.

      Remove the bolts at the base of the tub. Lift the outer tub out of the washer.

      Remove the screws holding the bearings in place on the outer tub. Remove the old bearings.

      Connect the new bearings to the base of the outer tub. Reverse the disassembly steps to put the Maytag Neptune washer back together.
