     Turn off and unplug the Hotpoint washing machine.

     Lift the cap off the top of the agitator. Remove the bolt that is exposed on the top of the agitator.

     Pull the upper agitator portion straight up to remove it.

     Remove the bolt on the agitator coupler. Lift the coupler out of the tub of the Hotpoint VBXR1070W1WW washing machine.
