Disconnect the range's power source to avoid injury during the replacement process.
Open the door of the oven and locate the screws under the front lip of the cook-top. Remove the screws.
Lift the cook-top up so that the burners are exposed. Secure the cook-top in an elevated position by propping it up with a wooden dowel or, if available, instruct a partner to hold up the cook-top.
Remove the screws securing the burner braces to the underside of the cook-top, then remove the burner braces. If there are no braces, remove the screws and brackets securing each burner to the underside of the cook-top.
Remove the cook-top from the range.
Compare the brackets on the underside of the old cook-top to the brackets on the underside of the new cook-top. If the new cook-top does not include any brackets installed on the old cook-top, remove the screws securing the brackets and then transfer them to the new cook-top.
Place the new cook-top on the range and elevate it.
Install the cross-braces or burners and brackets.
Lower the cook-top, and then secure it to the range using the screws that you removed from the old cook-top.
Restore the range's power source to complete the replacement.
