Kenmore Belt-Drive Washer Clutch Assembly

The large plastic agitator located in the center of your Kenmore washing machine’s drum requires a clutch assembly to spin and agitate during cleaning cycles. If the agitator fails to spin or agitate, it means the clutch is defective. You must replace the clutch assembly with a new clutch assembly to repair this malfunction. This does require partial disassembly of the washing machine, but the disassembly is minor and does not require the assistance of a repair technician to complete the repair.

    • 4

Disconnect the electrical power cord from the electrical outlet.

    • 5

Remove the mounting screws located on the front of the control console with a screwdriver, then tilt the console up and out of the way.

    • 6

Unplug the lid-switch electrical harness from the control panel.
