Disconnect the sewing machine from its electrical outlet to protect yourself while you work to complete the task.
Place the sewing machine on its side and locate the screws on the bottom of the housing. Remove the screws with a Phillips screwdriver and then pull the bottom housing and top housing apart. Place the bottom half of the housing off to the side.
Pull the knob on the end of the sewing machine that you use to manually lift or lower the needle straight off the shaft.
Locate the belt on the motor, which protrudes slightly out from the bottom of the sewing machine.
Rotate the motor’s pulley with your fingers as you pull the belt off the pulley. Pull the belt off the spindle pulley and then remove it through the hole left by removing the knob. If the belt completely broke, simply pull the defective belt out.
Slide the replacement belt through the hole in the housing and place it over the pulley.
Pull the belt over the pulley on the motor. It helps to rotate the belt and pulley together as you put the belt onto the pulley.
Place the bottom half of the housing onto the machine and secure it with the screwdriver.
