Instructions

Check the refrigerator door alignment. Place a level on top of the door and see if the door is level. If the door is not level, the gasket may not seal properly even if it is not damaged. If the door is not level, proceed to the next step.

Find the hinges to the refrigerator door. Loosen the hinges with a nutdriver or a socket wrench. Place the level back on top of the door. Tighten the hinges down once you have the door perfectly level. If the door still does not seal, you will have to replace the gasket inside the door.

    • 3

Open the door, and find the rubber gasket around the outside edge of the door. Loosen the screws along the length of the door that hold the gasket in place. Peel the gasket out from under its metal retaining strip until you can pull it free from the door. Discard the old gasket.

Insert a new gasket into place beneath the metal retaining strip. Make sure the gasket is aligned properly under the retaining strip before you tighten down the screws. Gently tighten the screws so they just barely hold the gasket in place. Close the door and see if the gasket forms a proper seal. Open the door, and tighten down the gasket screws the rest of the way. Shut the door.
