How to Locate the Belt on a Sears Kenmore Washer

The Kenmore brand of automatic washing machines by Sears covers a wide range of models, each with a distinct set of cycles and features. Each model uses a motor and set of pulleys to control the tub and agitator during a wash cycle. The belt connects the pulley system, allowing it to function correctly. In some situations, the belt may need to be inspected or replaced.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Kenmore washing machine power cord. Turn off the hot and cold water inlet faucets.

    • 2

Disconnect the water hoses from their connectors on the back of the Kenmore washer. Set the ends of the hoses in a bucket to collect any dripping water.

    • 3

Lay the washing machine on its side so the bottom and belt can be easily accessed. A pair of pulleys is visible on the bottom of the unit. The belt connects the two pulleys.

    • 4

Lift the belt off the pulleys if it needs to be removed.
