Unplug the Kenmore washing machine power cord. Turn off the hot and cold water inlet faucets.
Disconnect the water hoses from their connectors on the back of the Kenmore washer. Set the ends of the hoses in a bucket to collect any dripping water.
Lay the washing machine on its side so the bottom and belt can be easily accessed. A pair of pulleys is visible on the bottom of the unit. The belt connects the two pulleys.
Lift the belt off the pulleys if it needs to be removed.
