How to Troubleshoot a Bissell Quick Steam Plus Carpet Cleaner

Bissell creates a line of vacuums and carpet cleaners. The QuickSteam Plus carpet cleaner is effective in cleaning both deep and low-pile carpets. If the machine has reduced spray, no spray or if it stops picking up the cleaning solution and water, stop using the machine immediately and troubleshoot the issue. A faulty water tank causes most issues.

Instructions

  1. Refilling and Emptying Tanks

    • 1

Remove the clean water tank from the machine by pulling it up and away from the machine. Unscrew the cap from the top of the water tank and check the water level. If the water tank is empty, it will not spray the carpet.

    • 2

Refill the tank with clear water if it is empty. Reinstall the water tank by twisting the cap tight and pressing it into the machine.

    • 3

Remove the dirty water tank by opening the latches on either side of it and pulling it from the machine. Pour the dirty water from the tank into the sink. If the dirty water tank is full, the machine will not pick up any water or cleaning solution.

    • 4

Reinstall the dirty water tank and close the latches.

    Replacing the Belt

    • 5

Unplug the machine and remove the dirty and clean water tanks. Turn the machine on its side.

    • 6

Unscrew the brush cover and remove it from the machine. Remove the brush cap on the end of the brush.

    • 7

Pull the broken belt from the machine. If the belt is broken the brush bar will not turn.

    • 8

Install a new belt by wrapping one end around the silver motor pulley and another end around the brush bar. You will need to pull one end of the brush bar out of the machine to install the new belt. Press the brush bar into the vacuum.

    • 9

Press the brush cap into the brush bar. Screw the brush cover over the machine and replace the dirty and clean tanks.
