How to Install a Heating Element in a Frigidaire Dryer

The heating element in a Frigidaire automatic dryer performs the vital role of heating the interior of the dryer. If your Frigidaire dryer appears to be running correctly, but clothes are not getting dry, a faulty heating element may be the culprit. Remove the old heating element and install a new heating element to keep the dryer working correctly.

Unplug the dryer's power cord from the wall outlet. Insert the putty knife into the gap between the front and top panels. Press the knife into the internal clips about two inches from each front corner.

Lift the top panel up and back to rest on its hinges or against the wall behind the dryer.

Remove the two screws near the top of the front panel. Unplug the plastic wire connector leading to the front panel.

    • 4

Set the front panel aside. Move the idler pulley arm toward the front of the Frigidaire dryer. Slide the belt off the drum.
