How to Remove a GE Broiler

The broiler in a GE stove, range or oven is mounted along the top interior of the appliance and held in place with two to four screws, depending on the model, in the back wall. If the broiler feature stops working on the GE, you'll need to remove the old part for testing or replacement. Once the interior of the appliance is cool, removing the broiler takes less than five minutes. Buy a replacement, if necessary, at an appliance store.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull the circuit breaker switch for the GE appliance to the off position. This is faster than moving the GE away from the wall to reach the electrical cord.

    • 2

Open the oven door when the GE is cool to take out the cooking racks.

    • 3

Extract the screws in the steel plate on the back wall of the GE where the broiler prongs connect to the wall.

    • 4

Grip the two prongs close to the wall and pull straight back to unplug the part, which can now be removed from the appliance.
