How to Replace the Bottom Element in a Jenn-Air Oven

Jenn-Air electric ovens are equipped with two interior cooking elements. The bottom element is typically used more frequently than the broiler element at the top, so the bottom may be more prone to burn-out. When the element stops working, the Jenn-Air will not heat for cooking and baking. Replacing the bottom element takes less than half an hour. Match the old part with a new element at an appliance or hardware store.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the Jenn-Air and the circuit breaker that controls power to the appliance. Wait for it to cool.

    • 2

Lower the Jenn-Air door to pull out the two wire racks.

    • 3

Extract the slotted screws in the back wall of the Jenn-Air where the bottom element connects at two points. The screws are in the metal plate surrounding the element.

    • 4

Unplug and remove the bottom element by pulling straight back.

    • 5

Insert the two plugs on the end of the new part into the two sockets on the back wall of the Jenn Air. Push until the metal plate on the element is flush with the back wall.

    • 6

Insert and tighten the screws to hold the new element securely.

    • 7

Slide in the wire racks and close the Jenn-Air door. You can now switch on the electricity at the circuit breaker.
