How to Disassemble a Maytag Bravos Dryer

The Bravos line of automatic dryers manufactured by Maytag come in both gas and electric models. The separate models vary in the types of dry cycles that are available and offer various style and color options. The cabinet of each model is constructed in the same way. In order to repair, replace or inspect many of the internal components, the dryer cabinet must be disassembled.

Instructions

    • 1

      Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Open the dryer door.

      Press a putty knife into the retaining clips located under the top panel on the left and right corners. Lift the top panel back to rest on the wall behind the dryer.

      Unplug the electrical connector near the top of the dryer on the right side.

      Remove the two screws at the top of the front panel with a Phillips head screwdriver. Lift the front panel up to remove it.

      Lift the lint screen out of its compartment. Remove the four screws that hold the lint screen housing in place at the front of the dryer. Lift the housing out of the cabinet.

      Loosen the two screws in the top of the bulkhead. Remove the two screws at the base of the bulkhead. Lift the bulkhead out of the dryer.

      Remove the single screw that holds the cover plate in place near the top of the back panel. Lift the cover plate off.

      Take out the eight screws that hold the rear panel in place. Lift the rear panel off of the dryer.

    • 9

      Lift the drum belt off of the drum and pulleys from the back of the dryer.

      Pull out the drum from the dryer cabinet.
