Disconnect the GE washer power cord.
Slide the putty knife between the top and front panels. Position the knife two inches from the right corner. Press in to detach the internal clip. Repeat the process two inches from the left corner.
Lift the top panel up. Set the panel against the wall behind the GE top-load washer.
Grasp the sides of the front panel. Lift straight up to disconnect the front panel from the washer cabinet. Set the front panel aside.
Slide the belt off the set of pulleys.
Place the new drive belt around the motor pulley, which is the smaller of the two pulleys.
Guide the belt around the other pulley. Rotate the pulley by hand to help slide the belt into place.
Replace the front panel. Lower the top panel onto the washer cabinet. Press down on the top of the washer to engage the internal clips. Plug the washer back in.
