How to Replace a Belt on a Frigidaire Front-Loading Washing Machine

Frigidaire front-loading washing machines use an electric motor to power the movement of the tub and agitator. The drive belt connects a pair of pulleys inside the dryer cabinet. If the belt is defective or damaged, the drive system will not function properly, preventing the agitator or tub from rotating. Replace the faulty belt to keep your Frigidaire front-loading washer working properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.

    • 2

Slide the washing machine away from the wall so you can work on the back of it.

    • 3

Remove the screws around the rear access panel in the center of the back of the washer. Lift the rear access panel off the cabinet.

    • 4

Slide the belt off both pulleys.

    • 5

Hook the new belt around the motor pulley, which is the smaller of the two pulleys.

    • 6

Position the other end of the belt around the larger pulley. Rotate the pulley with one hand as you guide the belt into place with the other.

    • 7

Replace the rear access panel. Reinstall the screws that hold the panel in place.

    • 8

Push the washer back against the wall. Plug the washer in to the outlet.
