How to Fix Wobbly Wheels on a Vacuum Cleaner

Vacuum cleaners usually have three to four wheels, depending on the make and model. The wheels are secured to an axle via a screw through the center.Over time and with use, the screws can work their way loose, causing the wheels to become wobbly. Sometimes the screws can become stripped and may need to be replaced. If you have a vacuum cleaner with wobbly wheels, you can repair the wheels using a procedure that requires little time and effort.

Instructions

    • 1

Flip the vacuum cleaner upside down so the wheels are more easily accessible.

    • 2

Turn the screws in the center of the wheels clockwise to tighten them using a Phillips screwdriver. Ensure that the screws are snug before flipping the vacuum cleaner upright again.

    • 3

Remove the old screws if they are stripped and refuse to tighten. Take the old screws with you to a hardware or home improvement store to purchase new ones of the same size and thread-type.

Thread the new screws through the center of the wheels by hand and ensure they do not cross-thread. Tighten them until they are snug using a Phillips screwdriver. Flip the vacuum cleaner upright.
