How to Replace the Belt on an Amana Washing Machine Model LW8252W/l2

The LW8252W series of washing machines by Amana comes in various models, each with a distinct set of design specifications. The basic components and functionality of each model are identical. The belt inside the washer connects to a set of pulleys powered by the motor. If the belt breaks or fails, the tub and agitator inside the washer cabinet will not function properly. Replace the defective or broken belt with a new one to restore your Amana washer to working order.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the washer power cord. Turn off the water faucets connected to the back of the washing machine.

    • 2

Insert the putty knife between the cabinet top and front panel. Press the knife into the spring clips located approximately two inches from each front corner.

    • 3

Pull the top of the front panel away from the Amana washer cabinet. Lift the panel up and set aside to expose the motor and pump assembly at the base of the cabinet.

    • 4

Unscrew the two hoses leading into the pump assembly directly above the belt. Set the ends of the hoses on a towel to collect any remaining water.

    • 5

Remove the three screws holding the pump assembly to the top of the motor. Lift the pump assembly straight down to gain access to the belt. Set the pump assembly aside.

    • 6

Slide the belt off the pulleys. Position the new belt around both pulleys.

    • 7

Replace the pump assembly over the belt. Install the three pump mounting screws. Screw the two water hoses into their connectors on the pump assembly.

    • 8

Replace the front panel. Press down on the top panel to engage the two internal spring clips.
