How to Fix Scratched Enamel on Stove Tops

Heat-treated enamel paint on a stove top creates a sleek finish on the appliance, but it is also prone to scratches from utensils or pots and pans dragged roughly across the surface. Buy a bottle of appliance touch-up paint in a matching color from an appliance or hardware store for a simple solution to an unsightly scratch. The actual repair takes only a few minutes, but the paint typically requires up to eight hours of drying time before the stove top can be used.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the stove and wait for it to cool down.

    • 2

Clean the scratched area with degreasing detergent and a sponge. Removing grease and dirt helps the touch-up paint adhere to the surface.

    • 3

Dry the stove top with paper towels.

    • 4

Shake the touch-up paint bottle thoroughly before unscrewing the cap. The brush is attached to the underside of the cap.

    • 5

Brush the touch-up paint along the length of the scratch and let it dry according to the instructions on the bottle. A second and third application may be necessary to fill in deep scratches.
