Turn off the circuit breaker that controls electricity to the GE oven.
Open the GE Profile oven door to slide out the two wire racks inside.
Remove the screws in the metal bracket that holds the broiler element to the upper back wall of the Profile, using a screwdriver. Pull the part straight back to unplug it from the oven.
Dial your multimeter to the ohms setting and touch the two wires on the end to the two metal points on the broiler element. A zero or infinite ohms reading means the broiler is bad.
Push in the points on the new element into the two holes in the socket on the back wall of the GE Profile. Insert the screws through the holes in the broiler bracket and tighten with the screwdriver to secure the part.
Replace the racks and shut the Profile door.
Switch on the breaker to restore electricity.
