# Repairing Scratches on a Stainless-Steel GE Profile
Every stainless-steel appliance has a visible grain. When you clean your stainless-steel GE Profile, use a soft cloth to not scratch the surface. If your stainless steel scratches, it can dull the look of the entire appliance. Shallow scratches may be eliminated with proper care, but deep scratches require professional refinishing.

- Gentle dish detergent
- Soft cloths
- Nylon scrub pad
- Stainless-steel cleaner

Wipe the surface of the Profile with a soft cloth soaked in a solution of warm water and gentle dish detergent to remove any dirt or food residue. Dry the area thoroughly.

Rub the surface in the direction of the grain with a dry nylon scrubbing pad. Use long strokes along the lines that exist from the initial polishing. Repeat this process across the entire surface until the scratches blend into the new grain lines.

Apply a commercial stainless-steel cleaner according to the manufacturer's recommendations and buff the surface gently with a soft cloth to smooth out the grain lines.
