How to Replace the Top Burner on a Frigidaire Range FEFL79HSA

The smooth, easy-to-clean surface of your Frigidaire FEFL79HSA range is a large piece of ceramic glass. The ceramic glass efficiently transfers heat from the elements located below the cooking surface, allowing the range to heat and cool rapidly. The heating elements use electrical resistance to produce intense heat very quickly. Like any resistance element, they will lose efficiency and wear out over time. If your range is not heating as quickly and evenly as it used to, or if one or more burners has stopped working, you can replace them using basic hand tools.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the power supply to the Frigidaire FEFL79HSA by unplugging the power cord or turning off the breaker.

    • 2

Open the oven door. Remove the Phillips-head screws along the bottom of the front edge of the cooking surface. Close the oven door.

    • 3

Lift the front of the cooking surface until the prop-rods lock into place.

    • 4

Remove the nuts holding the burner channel to the cooking surface. Mark the holes that the burner mounting clips extend through with a marker. Squeeze the clips with pliers and push them up through the channel. Note the holes that the clips mount to on the burner. Remove the screws holding the clips to the burner and remove the clips.

Install the clips on the new burner, making sure to install them in the correct holes. Push the clips through the channel to mount the new burner. Disconnect the wires from the old burner, one at a time, and connect them to the same terminals on the new burner.

    • 6

Screw the channel to the cooking surface and tighten the nuts securely. Press the prop-rods in toward the center of the cooking surface and lower the surface until it is fully closed. Insert and tighten the Phillips-head screws in the bottom of the front edge of the cooking surface.
