How to Replace the Baffle on a Maytag LDE9206ACE

The baffle on the Maytag LDE9206ACE automatic dryer is connected to the inside of the tumbler drum. As the drum rotates, the baffle helps move laundry around so it can dry effectively. If the baffle breaks off or becomes damaged, it needs to be removed and replaced with a new part. The outside of the drum must be accessed to make the change.

Instructions

    • 1

      Unplug the dryer power cord. Remove the two screws along the bottom of the front panel.

      Pull the bottom of the front panel away from the Maytag LDE9206ACE cabinet. Pull the panel down to disengage it from the clips at the top of the panel.

      Unplug the door switch wire harness. Set the front panel out of the way.

    • 4

      Remove the four screws holding the shroud in place in front of the drum. Lift the shroud off the cabinet and set aside.

      Slide the belt off the drum.

    • 6

      Lift the drum out through the front of the dryer.

    • 7

      Remove the screws holding the baffle in place, from the outside of the drum.

    • 8

      Remove the baffle from the dryer drum.

    • 9

      Position the new baffle inside the Maytag dryer drum. Install the screws holding it in place on the outside of the drum.

    • 10

      Replace the drum inside the dryer. Loop the belt around the drum.

    • 11

      Replace the shroud in front of the drum. Install the four screws holding it to the cabinet.

    • 12

      Replace the front panel. Connect the door switch harness. Install the screws along the bottom of the front panel.
