Instructions

    • 1

Acquire replacement parts for your Kenmore 6657502310 as necessary. Sears Direct, the parts supply website of Kenmore's parent company, offers these parts for sale online. The parts that compose this burner include the burner head (part number 8273214), burner screws (part number 3400701), burner cap (part number 3191899) and burner grate (part number 8053904).

    • 2

Turn every dial on the stove to the “off” position. Cut off the flow of gas to the Kenmore appliance. Find the gas valve connected to the stove and turn the lever to the “off” position. In most cases, the handle in the “off” position is horizontal rather than vertical.

Remove the burner grate from the Kenmore 6657502310 by lifting it off the cooktop. Insert a hairpin or similar object into the holes between the burner cap – the flat, smooth top of the burner – and the circular, protruding burner head. Push down on the hairpin to create leverage and pop the burner cap off. Unscrew the burner screws on the perimeter of the burner head in a counterclockwise fashion with a Phillips-head screwdriver. The number of screws varies depending on which burner you're dealing with: The rear right-hand burner has two screws while the rest have three. Lift the burner head out of the cooktop.

Place the new burner head on the cooktop where you removed the old burner head, centering the circular gas tube opening. Insert the burner screws by hand and secure them with a Philips-head screwdriver, turning them clockwise. Snap the burner cap on securely, making sure it rests completely flat atop the burner base. Replace the burner grate by placing it atop the burner, lining it up with the indentation on the Kenmore Model No. 6657502310's cooktop. Turn the gas back on and test the new burner by turning the burner dial clockwise to the “Lite” position, and then past the “Lite” position to “Hi.”
