How to Remove Broiler Drawer Glides on a Tappan Gas Range

The broiler drawer glides on your Tappan gas range consist of a track on each side of the broiler drawer and a glide inside the broiler cavity. Sometimes the glides become bent or distorted due to heat and weight in the broiler drawer. This causes difficulty opening and closing the drawer correctly. There is little hardware securing the glides, which makes removing broiler drawer glides on a Tappan gas range a quick process.

Wait for the broiler to cool for 30 minutes, if it was recently operated. Open and fully extend the Tappan broiler drawer.

Grab the broiler drawer by the sides with your fingers under the drawer and your thumbs at the drawer release levers. The levers are in between the cabinet glide and drawer slide. Lift the lever on the right, and push down on the left lever with your thumb. Pull the broiler drawer out of the Tappan range.

Place the broiler drawer on a flat surface. Position your hands over the top of one side, with your fingers under the bottom of the drawer slide. Lift the slide straight up to disengage the tabs from the holes in the drawer and remove the slide. Repeat for the opposite side of the drawer.

Remove the screw in the front of the cabinet glide with a Phillips screwdriver. The screw is near the front center of the glide hidden in a recess. Pull the glide forward to disengage the rear of the glide from the slot in the frame of the unit. Repeat for the opposite side.
