Turn off the oven and allow it to cool completely. Try to unlock the door after it has cooled.
Turn on a short self-cleaning cycle for one or two hours if there is no food, cookware or utensils in the oven. Let the cleaning cycle complete then try to unlock the door. Do not try this with anything but oven racks inside.
Shut off the circuit breaker to the GE oven if it is electric. Turn the power back on after a few minutes. Try to unlock the door.
Let the oven cool to room temperature after a self-cleaning cycle. Depress the latch release button if your oven has one and slide the latch to the far left.
Check that the "Set" and "Temperature" control knobs are set to the "Clean" position.
Shut off the electricity to the oven for 30 seconds and reconnect. Try unlocking the oven again.
Rerun a short cleaning cycle if the oven is empty for one or two hours. Wait 30 minutes after the end of the cycle and try unlocking it again.
