Removing the Inner Basket From a Maytag Bravos Washer

The Bravos line of automatic washing machines by Maytag are top-loading models designed for residential use. The wash basket is connected to the inside of the cabinet. Remove the inner basket to gain access to many of the internal components for inspection, repair or part replacement. Some of the outer cabinet portions must be removed to access the basket.

Instructions

      Unplug the power cord before working on the Bravos washer.

      Apply a strip of masking tape to each side of the lid to keep it closed. Insert the putty knife blade under the top panel about six inches from each front corner. Press the knife into the clips to unlock them.

      Lift the top panel up and back to rest on the wall behind the Maytag Bravos washer.

      Pull the fabric softener dispenser straight up to disconnect it from the agitator.

      Lift the barrier cap off the top of the agitator.

      Remove the bolt from the top of the agitator with the socket wrench. Lift the top half of the agitator out of the basket.

      Pull the bottom agitator half straight up to disconnect it from the basket.

      Loosen the hose clamp in the left rear corner of the wash basket. Pull the hose off of the basket connector.

      Unsnap the basket retaining rings around the top of the basket. Lift the basket ring out.

      Lift the inner basket straight up to remove it from the washer cabinet.
