How to Disassemble a Kenmore Elite HE3 Washer

The Kenmore Elite HE3 line of automatic washers are energy-efficient residential- and commercial-use appliances. For some repairs or part replacements, you may need to disassemble the washing machine. Many of the main internal components, such as the motor, tub and hoses cannot be accessed without first taking apart the outer cabinet.

Instructions

      Disconnect the power cord from the electrical socket. Turn off the water faucets connected to the inlet hoses.

      Remove the screws along the back of the top panel. Lift the top panel off the washer cabinet.

      Open the detergent dispenser drawer. Press the unlock tab near the back of the drawer. Remove the drawer from its compartment.

      Remove the screw next to the dispenser drawer compartment. Disconnect the ribbon cable leading to the control panel. Press the release tab on the right side of the console.

      Open the washer door. Insert the tip of the flat-blade screwdriver into the slot in the bottom middle area of the control console. Lift the console up to disconnect it. Set the console aside.

      Close the door. Remove the three screws along the bottom of the toe panel. Lift the panel off.

      Remove the screws on the top and bottom corners of the front panel. Lift the front panel off of the Kenmore HE3 washer cabinet. The major internal components can now be accessed.
