All Bosch washing machines are equipped with a built-in safety feature that prevents the door from opening if the machine is not fully drained. If the door will not open after the machine has run a wash cycle, the water may not have drained completely. Retained water can indicate a blocked pump or a pump failure.
It can be quite frustrating if your Bosch washing machine door has jammed shut with your laundry trapped inside. Do not try to force the door open as this may cause more damage. Try unplugging the machine. Leave it unplugged for about five minutes and try plugging it in again. If this remedy does not work, the door may be jammed because the catch or handle has broken.
To remove laundry from the washing machine when there is still water in it, open the small trap door at the left hand bottom on the front of the unit. Place a tray or pan under the the flap to catch the water. Gently unscrew the filter, allowing only a small amount of water out at a time. Empty the tray or pan and repeat the procedure until no more water drains out. The machine will contain up to 5 or more pints of water. Once the machine is empty, you can turn the machine off and open the door. Upon opening the door, if you see that the catch is bent or broken, replacement parts are available for purchase online or from your Bosch appliance dealer.
After you have drained your Bosch washing machine and removed the wash load, clean the filters and inspect the drain for blockage. Coins, keys or a sock or trim items from clothing can easily clog a drain or pump. Calcium and lime can build-up in drains, hoses and pumps, leading to a sluggish drain.
