Instructions

    • 1

Locate the screws that hold on the sweeper's housing. On most Kenmore models the screws are on the top and sides, however, there may be screws on the bottom on some models. Remove the screws by turning them counterclockwise with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the housing.

    • 2

Cut the electrical cord's wires. Ensure that you leave about 3 to 4 inches connected to the sweeper's power unit so you have something to which you can attach the new cord.

    • 3

Strip off a couple of inches from the ends of the wires attached to the power unit as well as the ends of the new cord. Use a standard pair of wire strippers to strip the wires.

    • 4

Pair the wires from the cord with the wires still attached to the sweeper and secure them together with wire nuts. It doesn't matter which wires are connected together. Wrap the wire nuts and the wires with electrical tape.

    • 5

Replace the housing and tighten the screws. Plug in the cord and test the vacuum.
