How to Fix Scratches on an Electrolux Electric Range

Cleaning kitchen appliances regularly and with manufacturer-recommended products makes a difference in their appearance and longevity. The Electrolux electric range stove top is made of ceramic glass – a material prone to scratching when in contact with coarse ingredients such as salt or sugar and metal cookware that mars the stove top when moved upon it. Harsh cleaners that contain bleach, ammonia or gritty substances and abrasive scrubbers made of steel wool or nylon can cause blemishes and discolorations on the stove top. Clean your Electrolux electric range stove top with nonabrasive cleaners to eliminate and prevent the reoccurrence of scratches.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the Electrolux stove top and allow the surface to fully cool, preventing it from smoking or igniting while cleaning. Pour a nonabrasive cleaning cream made specifically for glass and ceramic cook tops on a soft sponge or towel. Apply the cleaner in a circular motion over the scratches.

Wet a paper towel and wipe the glass and ceramic cleaner off the surface. View the stovetop to see if the scratches are gone. If scratches remain, reapply the cleaning cream to the surface. Hold an oven razor scraper at a 45-degree angle and move it back and forth over the scratches using gentle pressure to remove them. Wipe the surface with a wet paper towel when finished.

Apply a metal polish to the Electrolux stove top that is recommended by the manufacturer of the item for polishing glass surfaces. Buff scratches out by rubbing the polish in a circular motion over the surface, using a soft sponge or towel. Wipe the polish off with a wet paper towel.
