Replacing an LG Dryer Tub

Automatic dryers built by LG come in gas and electric models. The tub, or drum, inside each dryer rotates while the interior is heated to allow the heat to contact every part of the laundry within. If the tub becomes damaged, it may not rotate properly. In some situations. A damaged tub can prevent the LG dryer from working at all. Replace the defective tub with a new one to keep your LG automatic dryer working as it was designed.

Instructions

    • 1

      Disconnect the power cord before servicing the LG dryer. Remove the screws along the top of the rear panel.

      Pull the control panel forward to remove the panel cover.

      Remove the screws that are now exposed toward the back of the top panel. Unplug the electrical connectors leading from the control panel to the cabinet. Set the control panel aside.

      Insert the putty knife between the top and front panels. Pry up the panel with the putty knife on the right and left sides. Lift the top panel up and back to rest against the wall behind the LG dryer.

      Open the dryer door. Remove the two screws in the door frame.

      Remove the two screws along the top of the front panel. Unplug the door switch connector. Lift the front panel off of the cabinet.

      Remove the four screws on the front of the tub. Lift the tub front cover off.

      Move the idler pulley toward the left to loosen the belt. Remove the belt from the tub.

    • 9

      Lift the tub out through the front opening.
      Place the new tub inside the dryer cabinet. Reverse the disassembly steps to put the LG dryer back together.
