How to Remove Melted Plaster From an Amana Smooth Top Stove

If you placed an object, such as a figurine or bowl, made of plaster on a hot Amana smooth-top stove and it melted onto the surface, you can remove the material by using a razor blade scraper. The razor's sharp, flat blade will glide easily over the stove's smooth top when angled properly. You'll be able to wedge the thin razor blade underneath the burnt plaster and remove the material from the stove.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on safety glasses. Twist the edge of a butter knife or spoon into the thickest portions of the burnt plaster. Wedge the utensil into the plaster and break off the larger pieces.

    • 2

Equip the razor blade scraper with a fresh blade following the tool manufacturer's recommendation. Make sure that the razor edge is perfectly straight to avoid scratching the cook surface.

    • 3

Place the razor’s sharp edge flush against the smooth stove top surface at an angle.

    • 4

Slide the razor into the thinnest section of the burnt plaster, wedging the tool between the melted material and the stove top. Move the razor gently in a back-and-forth motion under the plaster to remove it from the stove top.

    • 5

Use the spoon or knife to break up any thick plaster material before removing it with the razor.

    • 6

Clean the stove top with soap, water and a nonabrasive sponge to remove any loose plaster material.
