How to Replace the Thermal Limiter in a Frigidaire Front Load Dryer

The thermal limiter inside a Frigidaire front load dryer monitors the temperature inside the dryer cabinet. If the temperature reaches a high level that could be unsafe, the thermal limiter turns the dryer off to force it to cool down. If the thermal limiter is defective or becomes damaged, the dryer may not turn on. Replace the faulty thermal limiter to restore your Frigidaire front load dryer to proper working order.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet.

    • 2

Remove the screws along the back of the top panel. Pull the top panel toward the back of the dryer and lift up to remove it.

    • 3

Remove the screws connecting the thermal limiter to the heating element near the top of the cabinet. The thermal limiter is a coin-sized round device directly connected to the heating element assembly.

Disconnect the electrical wires from the thermal limiter by hand. The wires pull easily out of their sockets on the thermal limiter. Remove the thermal limiter from the Frigidaire dryer.

    • 5

Plug the electrical wires into the sockets on the new thermal limiter. Position the thermal limiter onto the heating element assembly. Install the screws that hold it in place.
