Disconnect the power cord before working on the GE washing machine.
Remove the screws around the edge of the rear panel with a Phillips screwdriver. Lift the rear panel off, and set it aside.
Loosen the coupler clamp by the water pump with a Phillips screwdriver. The pump is on the left side of the washer cabinet. Push the coupler aside to allow room to access the belt.
Tilt the washer against the wall to get access to the bottom of the washer.
Loosen the bolts holding the motor in place with a socket wrench. Slide the belt off two pulleys.
Position the new belt around the pulleys. Tighten the motor bolts.
Lower the GE super capacity washer back to its feet. Move the coupler back into its original position. Tighten the coupler clamp.
Replace the rear panel. Install the screws holding the panel in place.
