How to Remove the Agitator Coupling on a GE WWA6600SBLWW

The GE WWA6600SBLWW is a top-load automatic washing machine manufactured for residential use. The agitator coupling is the part that connects the agitator base to the bottom of the washer tub. If the agitator coupling breaks, the agitator may not rotate properly. Remove the defective agitator coupling to repair it or replace it with a new part.

  • Flat-blade screwdriver

Instructions

      Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

      Open the washer lid. Insert the tip of the flat blade screwdriver under the cap at the top of the agitator extension. Pry the cap off.

      Remove the screw from the top of the agitator extension. Pull the agitator extension straight up to remove it.

      Remove the screw from the top of the agitator. Pull the agitator up to disengage it from the washer tub.

      Pull the agitator coupling from the base of the agitator. Pry it off with a flat-blade screwdriver if it does not come off by hand.
