Unplug the Frigidaire power cord from the outlet.
Pull the Frigidaire forward so you can work behind the appliance.
Close the valve in the hose connected to the refrigerator, turning the knob on the valve to the right until tight.
Take off the service panel on the rear of the Frigidaire using a nut driver to remove the bolts at the point where the water hose enters near the bottom of the appliance.
Blot an old towel underneath the water valve where the hose is attached to check for leaks. Blot the valve itself to check for any seeping water that indicates a crack in the component or leaks through the internal rubber gaskets.
Remove the wires with the slide-on connectors attached to the water valve's solenoid, which is on the top or side of the valve, depending on your model. Pull each connector straight off the solenoid contacts.
Adjust the control on the multitester to measure for ohms.
Clip the wands on the multitester to the contacts on the Frigidaire solenoid. A normal reading will be between 200 to 500. If the tester registers zero or the digital numbers don't stop scrolling, a wire has shorted in the valve assembly. Replace the entire unit with a valve and solenoid component available from Frigidaire or an appliance repair shop.
