How to Replace a Glow Igniter on the Maytag Gemini

Electric Maytag Gemini ovens have two baking elements, one on the top of the oven and another on the bottom. Each element has an igniter in it that sends a signal from the control panel to the actual element, causing it to begin glowing. If the glow igniter breaks, you’ll have to replace the entire element.

Instructions

    • 1

      Unplug the oven.

    • 2

Open the oven door and remove the four screws that secure the bottom element in place. Set each aside in a safe place; don’t lose them.

    • 3

Pull the element from the oven wall, disconnecting it from the terminals with gentle force.

    • 4

Connect the replacement heating element directly to the terminals; you should hear it click into place.

    • 5

Secure the heating elements in the oven by replacing the four screws.

    • 6

Repeat the process with the heating element on top of the oven. The only difference here is that two rather than four screws hold the element in place.
