My Frigidaire Oven Doesn't Reach the Temperature I Set

No matter how careful you are, over time your oven may require occasional maintenance and repairs to ensure it remains efficient and continues to work properly. Components in your Frigidaire oven, such as the heating elements and baking igniters, will eventually wear out and prevent the oven from reaching the correct temperature. Other issues, such as poor wiring or defective electrical components, can also contribute to this problem. If you suspect your oven doesn't reach the right temperature, check it with an oven thermometer.
  1. Broken Baking Element

    • Frigidaire ovens have two baking elements: one on the top and another on the bottom. These turn on and off while the oven is set to bake in order to keep the inside of the oven at a consistent temperature. If one element is broken, the oven may feel warm, but it will not be able to heat up to high temperatures or remain at one consistent temperature. You will need to replace the baking element.

    Broken Thermostat Bulb

    • The thermostat sensing bulb monitors the temperature inside the oven and sends a signal to the thermostat, which controls the baking elements to keep a consistent temperature. Sometimes the bulb may be completely broken, or it could just be loose in its socket. If your oven isn't heating up, tighten the bulb as much as possible in its socket. if it still doesn't work, remove the bulb and replace it with a new one. Purchase a replacement bulb directly from Frigidaire.

Thermostat Is Broken or Not Calibrated

    • The actual oven thermostat is an electrical device that receives signals from the control panel and sends them to the baking elements. In order to maintain a consistent temperature, it uses signals from the thermostat bulb and sends them to the baking elements. If the thermostat is broken, the baking elements will not heat to the correct temperature. In this case, you will need to replace the thermostat. However, the thermostat may simply not be calibrated correctly. If this is the case, test the inside temperature of the oven with a cooking thermometer then calibrate the oven by way of the control panel. This process is described in the owner's manual for your Frigidaire oven.

    Broken Wiring

    • If the electrical components in your Frigidaire oven are defective, they may be preventing your oven from reaching the correct temperature. If you're comfortable with electrical wiring and schematics, you can contact Frigidaire for a repair manual specific to your oven model to make the necessary wiring repairs; otherwise, you should contact an authorized Frigidaire service technician for repairs. If you are performing your own repairs, use a multimeter to test for continuity in the wiring. If your warranty is still in effect, Frigidaire may cover the cost of repairs; however, it may void your warranty if you attempt to make the repairs yourself.
