How to Install a Glow Bar on a Gas Oven

After regular use of your gas oven, one of the burners, also known as a "glow bar," may become damaged or clogged. If the burners are not properly functioning, gas cannot properly flow through the burner and heat the oven upon ignition. To restore the range, you must remove the old burner and install a new one. Fortunately, replacing the burner is a quick do-it-yourself project that only requires a screwdriver to complete.

    • 1

Unplug the oven from the wall outlet or turn off the breaker in your home's service panel.

    • 2

Open the oven door and then remove the oven racks.

Remove the screws securing the burner to the bottom or top of the oven, depending on the burner being replaced.

Disconnect the wire on the ignitor wire terminal, if applicable, and then remove the burner from the oven.

Transfer the ignitor from the old burner to the new burner, if applicable. The ignitor is secured using one or two mounting screws.
