How to Replace a GE Profile Stove Top Spark Module

GE Profile gas stoves have a spark module that, when activated, will ignite the burners on the stovetop. When you turn the knobs on your gas stove, you will hear a clicking noise, which is coming from the spark module. The spark module may malfunction over time, which will cause the burners not to operate; therefore, you will need to replace the spark module in order to operate the burners.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the GE Profile stove’s power cord from the electrical outlet, then move the stove away from the wall.

    • 2

Locate and unscrew the screws that line the rear panel of the stove, using a Phillips screwdriver, and then pull the panel off the back of the stove. Removing the panel will expose the interior of the stove, including the spark module.

    • 3

Locate the spark module at the center of the upper section of the stove. The spark module has two screws holding it to the stove.

    • 4

Note the placement of the wires that are connected to the spark module. You will need to insert the wires in the exact order into the new spark module.

    • 5

Disconnect the wires from the spark module, then unscrew the two screws holding the spark module in place.

    • 6

Line the new spark module up and screw it into place.

    • 7

Insert the wires into the spark module, exactly as they were placed in the old spark module.

    • 8

Replace the back panel on the stove and screw it back into place.

    • 9

Push your GE Profile stove back into place and plug the power cord back in.
