Remove the grates, burner caps and burner head from the Viking countertop stove. None of these components is attached to the stove. Each will come off easily.
Adjust the flame to the lowest position.
Pull off the control knob on the front of the Viking stove. You may need to use a lot of pressure to get the knob off the stove, as grease and other food debris can make it difficult to remove.
Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the hole behind the control knob onto the flame adjustment screw on the surface burner valve.
Adjust the screw counterclockwise until the flame is as low as possible. This will ensure that the stove isn’t leaking gas when it is off and that gas is emitted at the right rate.
Press the control knob back over the peg.
