How to Remove the Pan Seal on a Jenn-Air Cooktop

Jenn-Air gas cooktops have pan seals that lie directly below the burner base, or burner pan, to prevent the burner from sliding and food particles from seeping under the burner. The pan seal is made of rubber, and over time it can crack, which will require you to replace it. You can purchase a replacement pan seal directly from Jenn-Air or from an appliance repair store. The task of removing the pan seal takes only a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Lift off the burner grate and burner cap from the Jenn-Air cooktop. The grate sits on top of the burner, and the burner cap rests on top of the burner.

    • 2

Lift away the burner port, igniter and igniter gasket. The igniter could be a cylinder shape or it could be flat, depending on your model. All three of the pieces are easy to remove because they are not secured and are found directly under the burner cap.

    • 3

Unscrew the screw holding the burner base into place, and lift the burner base off. Depending on your model, it could be a burner pan instead of a burner base. In either case, there is a screw that secures it to the cooktop.

    • 4

Lift up the burner pan seal to remove it. The burner pan seal is the rubber gasket that is visible once the burner base, or burner pan, is removed.

    • 5

Replace the burner pan seal, and reverse the directions to reinstall the burner.
