Twist the small knob clockwise in the water hose that connects to the rear of the Frigidaire to stop the water flow while fixing the actuator.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet behind the Frigidaire.
Remove the plastic drip tray from the bottom of the dispenser, below the actuator.
Take out the screws in the housing under the drip tray. Pull gently on the bottom of the housing at an angle to disengage the tab at the top of the housing from the front of the Frigidaire.
Reach behind the housing to disconnect the small plug on the end of the actuator wiring harness from the power socket inside the Frigidaire.
Spread the clasp gently on the back of the water dispenser housing to remove the two pins holding the old actuator. Note the position of the metal spring that contracts when the actuator lever is pressed and snaps back to close the actuator when a drinking glass is removed from the lever.
Pull out the defective part from the front of the housing.
Insert the new actuator assembly into position in the front of the housing and thread the plug on the wiring harness through the opening at the top of the housing.
Spread the clasp behind the housing to fit the two pins at the top of the actuator into the hole on each side of the clasp. Rotate the spring in the clasp so it is in the same position as with the old actuator.
Plug in the actuator wiring harness to the socket inside the Frigidaire.
Line up the tab at the top of the housing with the upper front edge of the Frigidaire and push the water dispenser housing from the bottom back into position. Secure the bottom of the housing with the screws removed in Step 4.
Replace the drip tray.
Plug in the Frigidaire power cord.
Unscrew the knob in the water supply valve.
