How to Replace a Jenn Air JFC2089 Ice Maker Refill Tube

The Jenn Air JFC2089 is a French door-style refrigerator with a built-in automatic ice maker in the freezer. The ice maker harvests a fresh cycle of ice when water flows through the refill tube in the upper back wall inside the freezer. This rubber tube can freeze and crack or wear out over time, requiring replacement. A cracked tube can cause water to leak inside the freezer, resulting in smaller ice cubes. Replacing the tube takes less than half an hour.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Jenn Air JFC2089 power cord from the wall outlet.

    • 2

Open the freezer door on the left side to remove the two screws holding the cover plate over the ice maker. Take off the cover plate. The refill tube is above the ice maker, protruding from the back wall. A separate water hose is attached to the top of the tube at the back.

    • 3

Take off the water hose and clamp from the top nozzle on the refill tube, using pliers to compress the clamp.

    • 4

Grab the end of the refill tube with pliers and pull to remove. This may take some force to extract the tube from the back wall of the freezer.

    • 5

Line up the new tube with the opening in the freezer wall and press until the tube seats in place.

    • 6

Attach the water hose to the nozzle on the new refill tube and slide the clamp into place.

    • 7

Replace the ice maker cover and secure it with the screws.
