How to Change a Fridgidaire Oven Control Board

A Frigidaire oven uses a control board built into the front top panel to operate the burners, set the timer, adjust the digital clock and activate the internal oven elements. The control board attaches to a wiring harness inside the oven. The wiring harness routes the circuits for the various controls to the corresponding features, such as the surface burners. The control board is an electronic component that must be replaced as a unit. Changing out a defective control board takes less than an hour.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the oven and wait for it to cool if you've been using the appliance.

    • 2

Unplug the power cord from the wall and slide the oven forward to make a work space behind the appliance.

    • 3

Remove the screws holding the metal panel to the back of the control panel at the top of the oven.

    • 4

Grasp the plug on the end of the wiring harness where it attaches to the back edge of the control board. Pull the plug out of the old control board.

    • 5

Remove the mounting screws holding the control board to the inside of the Frigidaire.

Slip the cover plate onto the front of the new control board to align the labels on the plate with the pressure switches on the control board.

    • 8

Attach the new control panel to the inside of the Frigidiare using the screws removed in step 5.

    • 9

Plug in the wiring harness to the socket on the back of the new control board.

    • 10

Replace the metal plate on the back of the oven with the screws and screwdriver.

    • 11

Plug in the Frigidaire power cord and slide the oven back to the desired position.
