How to Remove the Belt on a Magic Chef Washing Machine

The drive belt on a Magic Chef washing machine wraps around the motor pulley and around the transmission pulley to power the washing machine. Another belt wraps around an additional pulley attached to the motor shaft and powers the water pump. Signs that the belts have failed on your machine are when your Magic Chef washer begins making loud squealing noises, the tub fails to rotate or water remains standing in the tub. Remove the old belts in order to install new belts on the washer.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Magic Chef washing machine from the wall outlet.

    • 2

Pull the machine out from the wall. Tilt the Magic Chef washer back until it rests against the wall, allowing you to access the belt beneath the washer. Have an assistant hold the washer in place to ensure the washer doesn’t fall on you.

    • 3

Grasp the pump belt located at the front of the washer. Rotate the belt as you pull it from the pulleys. You must remove the pump belt to access the drive belt.

Rotate the drive belt around the pulleys and pull it away from the washer. This releases the belt from the Magic Chef washing machine.
