Unplug the washer power cord from the wall socket.
Unscrew the two hoses attached to the back of the Frigidaire, using pliers. Lower the hoses into a bucket to catch the water.
Remove the back plate from the Frigidaire, taking out the screws with a screwdriver.
Pull off the plate to locate the pump, which is connected with a plug to a wiring harness and a black rubber hose clamped on one side. The pump is bolted onto the bottom of the Frigidaire cabinet.
Press the lock tab on the electrical plug on the side of the pump to disconnect the plug and attached wires.
Squeeze the clamp in the pump hose with pliers to pull off the hose. Set the hose in the bucket to catch the water.
Remove the screws holding the pump to the cabinet, using the screwdriver. Take the pump out of the appliance to inspect the unit.
Clear the drain hose of obstructions using the tip of the screwdriver. Cut and unfold a wire coat hanger to probe the length of the hose for clogs. Twist the coat hanger wire to remove clogs.
Set the multimeter to test for current resistance, which is measured in ohms.
Touch the two multimeter probes to the two terminals inside the pump's electrical plug. If the meter registers zero, the pump's electrical circuits are bad and must be replaced.
