How to Install a Maytag Repair Part 12001348

The repair part number 12001348 is a coil ignition kit for use with Maytag and other brands of gas dryers. The coils are part of the gas ignition assembly. If the coils are defective or damaged, the Maytag gas dryer will not be able to produce any heat. Remove the faulty ignition coils and install the new components to restore your Maytag to proper working condition.

Instructions

      Unplug the dryer power cord. Turn off the gas supply leading to the dryer.

      Open the Maytag dryer door. Remove the four screws along the inside of the door frame.

      Grasp the sides of the front panel. Lift the front panel up and away from the dryer to remove it. Set the front panel aside.

      Remove the four screws holding the front shroud in place in front of the drum. Lift the shroud off.

      Move the idler pulley toward the left. The idler pulley is beneath the drum toward the left side of the cabinet.

      Slide the belt off the idler pulley and motor pulley.

      Lift the drum out through the front of the dryer cabinet.

      Unplug the wire connectors from the coils. The coils are located on the gas assembly in the lower left area of the cabinet.

      Remove the screws holding the coil mounting bracket in place. Lift the bracket off.

      Slide the coils off the coil shafts. Place the new coils onto the shafts.

      Replace the mounting bracket. Install the screws holding the bracket in place.

      Plug the wire connectors into the sockets on the new coils.

      Reverse the disassembly steps to put the Maytag dryer back together.
