How to Remove a Hoover Valve on a Tank

The valve seals underneath the Hoover steam-cleaner vacuum tank create a barrier that prevents cleaning solution or recovery water from leaking out of the solution tank or recovery tank. These seals are consumable and need to be replaced when they get worn. To reach the valve seals, you must remove the valve assembly. Most Hoover steam vacs provide access to the valve assembly in the same general way.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the cleaner from the electrical source.

    • 2

Lift out the clean solution tank by lifting the handle and pulling the tank up and out. Set it to one side.

    • 3

Remove the recovery tank by lifting it up and out. Set it aside.

    • 4

Pull the valve assembly up and out so the seal can be replaced and the new valve installed. Once you have done this, reassemble by following these steps in reverse.
