Turn off both ovens and shut off the electricity at the circuit breaker while you wait for the appliance to cool down completely if either of the ovens has been in use.
Open the door to the oven that has stopped working. Remove the screws below the top frame of the oven door with a screwdriver. The control panel is just above the door frame.
Pull down and forward on the control panel to disengage it from the front of the oven. Use gentle pressure to avoid pulling loose any wires connected to the back of the control panel. The thermal switch is mounted inside. The part is round and connected to a pair of wires, with a red button in the center.
Press the red button on the thermal switch then turn on the electricity for the oven. Dial the oven control on the detached front panel to any setting to test for heat. If the switch merely needs to be reset, this may solve the problem without having to replace it. If the oven does not heat, cut off the electricity again and proceed with the repair.
Pull the two wires off of the thermal switch. Loosen the two screws that hold the Y-shaped clips onto the switch where it attaches inside the oven. The switch can now be removed.
Hold the new switch in position with the Y-clips underneath the two screws. Tighten the screws to secure the new part in place.
Slip the wires onto the terminals on the new switch.
Place the control panel in position and secure it with its screws through the top of the door frame.
Close the oven door and restore electrical power at the circuit breaker.
